DLYF CHEERLEADING

(page updated 4/21/24)
A message from our DLYF Cheer Directors:

Hello everyone! Welcome to our 2024 Youth Cheer Season! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. We are excited to have so many of you join us for another great season!

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

***Our practices will begin July 29, and the schedule will proceed as follows:
7/29 – 8/1 (Monday - Thursday) MANDATORY CHEER WEEK!  Practice will be held all 4 nights this week from 6pm - 8:30pm. This is an important week that gets us started on our halftime routine.  It is important that your child attends all of the practices so that we are ready for our first game on 8/17!
8/5 - 8/8 6pm - 8:30pm
8/12 - 8/15 6pm - 8:30pm

SCHOOL SCHEDULE

Beginning the week of 8/19, practices will move to Monday and Wednesday only 6pm - 8pm and will remain until the end of the season.

We need your child to be committed to practices.  If you cannot attend Cheer week your child may not be included in the halftime stunts or tumbling portions of the routine.  This will remain the case for the season. While we recognize that August is a busy month and still part of summer vacation, we need a majority of attendance to make our routines look nice and to keep the girls progressing in their skills.  Please let us know well in advance the dates in which you have conflicts, this helps us to prepare the girls in the week leading up to game day.

*There will be consequences for frequent absences from practices, TBD at the discretion of the cheer director.

We are requiring that everyone completes and signs the Rules and Regulations and Code of Conduct prior to the first practice.  If you have not completed those by 7/29, you will not be permitted to participate until those forms are signed.  We will also be requiring stunting and tumbling permission forms to be completed and turned in prior to 7/29 in order for your child to participate in any stunts or tumbling at practices or games.

GAME DAY

All games are considered mandatory. This is what we practice for! All cheerleaders are expected to attend home and away games. Cheerleaders typically arrive 60 minutes before scheduled start times so that they can adequately warm up and run through the halftime routines and any stunting formations that have been planned for that game day. If you have prior commitments to a game, please make that known well in advance so the coaches and jr coaches can plan accordingly.

*There will be consequences for frequent absences of game days, TBD at the discretion of the cheer director.

UNIFORMS

Uniforms will be handed out at uniform night the week before practices begin. Email will be sent out with details once we get closer. If you are coming early or staying for a later game, please have your child change out of their uniform. These uniforms need to last the league for many years to come, so we ask that you take very good care of them, all season long.

UNIFORM CARE- Please wash them in cold water and hang them to dry, do not dry clean them, wash them with similar colors.

OTHER PURCHASES

Other items we purchase are warm-ups, headbands, bows, pink bows and socks, liners and briefs. All purchases will be completed at our apparel nights at the end of May.

SHOES

For game day you will need a clean, plain white athletic shoe. Please do not buy anything with large logos or sparkly designs. Please do not buy anything similar to a "KEDS" shoe. The girls will need something to support their dancing, jumping, tumbling, etc.

PRACTICE WEAR

Please wear athletic shoes to practice that will support you for jumping, dancing, tumbling, and stunting. Please refrain from wearing your white game day shoes to practice. Please wear comfortable athletic clothes, have sunscreen and bug spray already applied before the start of practice.

WATER

Please be sure your daughter has water at all practices and games, especially during the warmer months.

JEWELRY

No jewelry is to be worn during practices or games; it is a safety hazard while stunting and tumbling.

NAILS

Please refrain from bright nail colors on game day and make sure your nails are at a manageable length so that you do not injure any of your stunting partners.

BATHROOM BREAKS

Please make sure your daughter uses the bathroom before practices and games. It is a very significant distraction to have girls running to the bathroom at all times.
